LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Last year, Fasig-Tipton began to explore the viability of a sale for breeding stock in the summer. Monday afternoon's Fasig-Tipton July selected horses of all ages sale will offer some horses in that sector, including a big addition with a lifetime breeding right to promising freshman sire Girvin. The Fasig-Tipton horses of all ages sale begins at 3 p.m. Monday at the company's Newtown Paddocks headquarters in Lexington. It will be followed by the company's traditional July yearling sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday. :: DRF BREEDING LIVE: Real-time coverage of breeding and sales Millionaire Girvin, by Tale of Ekati, won the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational and two other graded stakes. A half-brother to graded stakes winners Midnight Bourbon, Cocked and Loaded, and Pirate's Punch, he stands at Ocala Stud in Florida, in partnership with Kentucky's Airdrie Stud and his racing owners, Brad and Misty Grady. He ranks fifth on the freshman sires earnings list through Sunday, and has already sired five winners from nine starters, fewer starters than any other freshman in the top five. Those winners include Devious Dame, 5 1/4-length winner of the Astoria Stakes last month at Belmont, and Damon's Mound, a 12 1/2-length debut winner on July 2 at Churchill Downs with a Beyer Speed Figure of 84. “The lifetime breeding right to Girvin is an exciting, unique addition to this year’s sale,” Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning, Jr., said. “It offers breeders an opportunity to get in on the ground floor with a stallion with unlimited potential.” The 8-year-old Girvin stood the 2022 season at Ocala Stud for an advertised fee of $6,000. The breeding right to Girvin headlines the selection of stallion prospects, broodmares (some with 2022 foals alongside), broodmare prospects, and stallion prospects on offer Monday. The group includes a handful of mares from Godolphin, which has made strategic offerings of bloodstock at public auctions recently. However, the active racehorses will be the main focus Monday. The catalog continued to be fluid through the weekend, as supplemental entries were reviewed, and horses were withdrawn as connections’ plans changed. Plenty of star power is in the final catalog, however. As of the morning of the sale, catalog highlights included graded stakes winners Easy Time, Enforceable, Ete Indien, Newgrange, and Risk Taking. First Constitution, a Group 1 winner in Chile and a stakes winner in the U.S., is also on offer. The catalog also includes graded-placed stakes winners Greeley and Ben, Halo Again, Shekky Shebaz, and Value Proposition; Grade 1-placed Ginsburned; graded stakes-placed Barossa, Candy Tycoon, Electability, and Miss Costa Rica; stakes winners Heaven Street, Hybrid Eclipse, Laobanonaprayer, One Step Ahead, Rogue Too, and Strike Silver; and stakes-placed Argentello, Charles Chrome, Diamond Hands, Fully Loaded, Kuchar, Montebello, Mystique Saboteur, Perfect Silent Cat, Queen of Shades, Speight'spercomete, and Warrior's Battle.
