Darley Stud has retired the 2009 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner, Vale of York, to its Kildangan Stud in Ireland. He will stand for 5,000 euros, or about $6,800, in 2011.
Frank Stronach's Adena Springs Farm will keep its stallions' fees largely the same in 2011, although Ghostzapper and Macho Uno will see their fees trimmed from 2010 levels.
Wednesday's session of the Keeneland November mixed sale endured more losses as gross and average fell 21 percent and median dropped by 13 percent. The session-topper was the $410,000 racing or broodmare prospect Lady Alexander. Louisiana-based owners and breeders Ginger and Keith Myers purchased Lady Alexander from the Three Chimneys consignment.
Breeders' Cup Classic winner Blame will start his stud career with a $35,000 fee at Claiborne Farm in Paris, Ky., the farm announced Wednesday evening. The 4-year-old Blame enters stud fresh off his head victory over previously undefeated Zenyatta. He will stand alongside his sire, Arch, whose fee will rise from $25,000 this year to $30,000 in 2011.
