Former Lane's End stallion Manzotti dies

Pensioned Texas-based stallion Manzotti has died at his farm, according to Barbara Kvalsvig, who helped oversee the horse’s care during his retirement at Brookshire Farm in Brookshire, Texas. A Nijinksy II horse, Manzotti was 28 and died on April 12.

Two Grammy Award-winning bands, Bruno Mars and Train, will perform sets in the infield of Pimlico Race Course during the Preakness Stakes card on May 21 this year, the track announced Monday. The performances will be part of a series of events held in the infield that will also include a women’s volleyball tournament, bikini contest, cornhole tournament, carnival games, and beginning handicapping seminars. . . .Former WinStar Farm chief executive Doug Cauthen has joined the board of True Nicks, a pedigree and matings analysis service developed by The Blood-Horse and Pedigree Consultants. Cauthen, an independent bloodstock adviser, was chief executive of WinStar from soon after its founding in 2000 until last November.
