Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana catalogs 202 yearlings for September sale

Mary Rampellini|Aug 01, 2013

A colt by Unbridled’s Song is among the 202 yearlings the Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana has catalogued to its Sept. 24 auction. The sale, which will be held at the Ike Hamilton Center in West Monroe, La., is affiliated with the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association. It will begin at 11 a.m. Central.

The colt by Unbridled’s Song, who died July 26, is named Warrior Dash. He is the first foal from Jasmine Gardens, a stakes-placed daughter of Mineshaft who won four races and earned $170,803. Warrior Dash, who sells as hip No. 81, was bred in Louisiana. He is consigned by Pelican State Thoroughbreds as agent.

The sale’s catalog is a mix of yearlings from established stallions and new faces. The book includes yearlings by Songandaprayer and Half Ours, who are graded stakes-winning sons of Unbridled’s Song, as well as offspring of Awesome Again, English Channel, Mineshaft, and Yankee Gentleman. There are also yearlings from the first crops of Hold Me Back, Smooth Air, and Warrior’s Reward, and representatives of such young stallions as Dunkirk, My Pal Charlie and Tiz Wonderful.

Other highlights include an Old Forester filly named Army of Me out of Canadian champion and $1.2 million earner Financingavailable.

The auction will be the first under new sales director Daren English.

All accredited Louisiana-bred foals auctioned are eligible for the Bayou State Bonus, which pays out $100,000 to the colt or gelding who sweeps the 2014 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile, the 2015 Crescent City Derby, and the 2015 A.L. “Red” Erwin Memorial. The bonus is the same for a filly who can sweep the 2014 Louisiana Champions Day Lassie, the 2015 Crescent City Oaks, and the 2015 Elge Rasberry Memorial.
