Breeders Sales Co. of Louisiana yearling sale catalog released

The Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana has released the catalog for its yearling sale, to be held on Sept. 24 at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center in West Monroe, La. The single-session sale will begin at 11 a.m. Central.

The sales company has cataloged 202 yearlings for this year’s auction, a 20 percent increase over the 2012 sale. Sires represented include Awesome Again, Bluegrass Cat, Candy Ride, Dunkirk, Mineshaft, and Unbridled’s Song. Louisiana-based sires with yearlings offered at the sale include Songandaprayer, Yankee Gentlemen, Half Ours, and Closing Argument.

At last year’s yearling auction, 113 hips sold for gross receipts of $1,077,600, with an average of $9,796 and a median of $4,500. The gross declined 27 percent compared with final results from the 2011 sale, and the average and median dropped 11 and 4 percent, respectively.

The Breeders’ Sales Company will award a voucher of $250 to any owner or trainer who purchases a yearling for $10,000 or more at the sale, with a limit of one voucher per individual.
