Breeders Sales Co. of Louisiana yearling auction set for Tuesday

The Breeders Sales Co. of Louisiana has cataloged 197 yearlings to its Tuesday auction, to be held at the Ike Hamilton Center in West Monroe. The sale put on by the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association will start at 11 a.m. Central.

“We are expecting good attendance of prospective buyers next week,” said sales director Daren English. “For anyone who can’t make it to West Monroe, the sale can be viewed via a webcast on the louisianabred.com website.”

Last year’s auction was topped by an Awesome Again colt at $210,000, which was a record price for a Louisiana-bred selling in Louisiana, according to Roger Heitzmann of the LTBA.

Overall, 140 yearlings sold last year for an average of $14,288.
