Breeders' Cup wagering: Three two-day daily doubles, six Head2Head wagers, guaranteed pools, carryover rules
ARCADIA, Calif. – A widely varied wagering menu and guaranteed pools await horseplayers in the 36th Breeders’ Cup this weekend at Santa Anita. Those offerings include:
◗ Three two-day daily doubles ($1 minimum) linking the following races: Juvenile Turf (race 6, Friday) with the Turf (race 11, Saturday); Juvenile Fillies (race 7, Friday) with the Distaff (race 10, Saturday); and the Juvenile (race 9, Friday) with the Classic (race 12, Saturday).
◗ A $1 pick six on races 4-9 Friday and races 7-12 Saturday.
◗ Two pick five wagers (50-cent minimum) each day – races 1-5 and 5-9 Friday, and races 1-5 and 8-12 Saturday.
◗ The following pick four wagers (50-cent minimum): Friday, races 2-5, 6-9, 7-10; Saturday, races 2-5, 4-7, 6-9, 9-12.
◗ The standard menu of rolling doubles ($1 minimum) and rolling pick threes (50-cent minimum) and all vertical wagers, including a jackpot super high five (50-cent minimum).
◗ Friday guaranteed pools: early pick five (1-5), $500,000; late pick five (6-9), $1 million; all-BC pick four (6-9), $1 million.
◗ Saturday guaranteed pools: pick six (races 7-12), $1 million; late pick five (8-12), $2 million; late pick four (races 9-12), $2 million.
◗ Six Head2Head wagers ($10 minimum), with three on each day. BC officials were still in the process of finalizing the matchups, although one confirmed is Code of Honor versus McKinzie in the Classic.
◗ All Friday wagers that can possibly carry over would do so to Saturday. Any pick five carryover from Friday or (early) Saturday will be added to the late pick five (races 8-12) Saturday. The BC Classic will require mandatory payouts in the Saturday pick six, the late pick five, and jackpot super high five, regardless of whether a perfect ticket is sold.
