Breeders' Cup tickets sold out

Matt Hegarty|Sep 22, 2004

The Breeders' Cup has sold all 51,034 available tickets for the Oct. 30 event at Lone Star Park, the two organizations announced Wednesday.

The ticketholders will be the only ones allowed at Lone Star on Breeders' Cup Day, as no general admission tickets will be offered. The Breeders' Cup restricted attendance at the event once before, at Arlington Park in 2002, when 46,118 tickets were sold. Lone Star officials said restrictions on attendance would allow the track to focus on customer service.

Lone Star has installed about 39,000 temporary seats to accommodate the event, and spent more than $5 million on upgrades. This will be the first Breeders' Cup at Lone Star, a 7-year-old track that is owned and operated by Magna Entertainment Corp.
