DEL MAR, Calif.  - When Banishing runs in Saturday’s $2 million Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Del Mar, Chad Summers will be the trainer of record, not David Jacobson.  Jacobson said that the workman’s compensation insurance policy that is valid in other states, is not valid in California and he said it would take a couple of weeks to get a new policy, which would not be in time for him to be the trainer of record for the Breeders’ Cup.  Jacobson said when he went to renew his trainer’s license he was told that his insurance “was not California insurance,” Jacobson said. “I said it works in West Virginia, it works in Delaware, and it works in New York.”  Jacobson said there was a claim from several years ago on a California policy. Jacobson was able to renew his trainer’s license.  “I’m not happy about it,” Jacobson said by phone from Kentucky. “In the history books, no one will ever know I won the Breeders’ Cup.”  ON SALE NOW: DRF Breeders' Cup Packages! Banishing, a 5-year-old gelding by Ghostzapper, is 2 for 2 at six furlongs, but he hasn’t run at that distance since January, when he won a listed stakes at Oaklawn Park. Banishing has made his last two starts at 1 1/8 miles, winning the Grade 2 Charles Town Classic two starts back before finishing third behind Mystik Dan in the Grade 2 Lukas Classic.  “I think he’s got a hell of a shot,” said Jacobson, who is part-owner of Banishing along with Larry Roman. “I got a real horse and he’s going to show up, it’s just a matter if he can get up in time.”  Banishing drew post 2 and will be ridden by Tyler Gaffalione. He is listed as 15-1 on the morning line of DRF’s David Aragona. Jacobson said he chose Summers to be the trainer of record because he’s friendly with him and “he knows his way around there,” Jacobson said. “He’s been in the big dance before.”  Summers, who is here to run Dry Powder in Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Distaff, sent out Mind Your Biscuits to a third-place finish in the 2017 Breeders’ Cup Sprint.  :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
