Breeders' Cup names Sheinman as chief marketing officer

Breeders’ Cup Ltd. has named Drew Sheinman, a former marketing official with Coca-Cola and the New York Mets, to the position of senior vice president and chief marketing officer, the company announced Monday.

In 2005, Sheinman founded Vision Works, a marketing consulting firm. Prior to that, he was the director of sports marketing for Coca-Cola and the vice president of marketing for the New York Mets. He also has held “senior level marketing positions” with the Baltimore Orioles and Madison Square Garden, Breeders’ Cup said in a release.

The chief marketing position at Breeders’ Cup has been unfilled since Peter Land resigned from the position in 2009.

One of Breeders’ Cup’s most important partners is NBC, which broadcasts the Breeders’ Cup event. In a release, Jon Miller, president of programming for NBC and NBC Sports, said that he has known Sheinman for 30 years.

“I know that Breeders’ Cup is getting an outstanding marketing executive who will continue to grow this tremendous event,” Miller said.
