Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint: Mischief Magic has Commonwealth Cup on schedule for next year

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at the Royal Ascot meeting next June will be the long-range goal for Mischief Magic, winner of Friday’s Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint at Keeneland.
"He's got the scope to develop from 2 to 3 well," trainer Charlie Appleby said. "And, therefore, he's put himself probably in the picture as a Commonwealth horse, and we'll work backward from that."
Mischief Magic rallied from last to win the 5 1/2-furlong Juvenile Turf Sprint. The Commonwealth Cup, for 3-year-olds, is run at six furlongs.
As far as what the colt will do to prepare for that race, more than seven months hence, Appleby was not prepared to say.
"No immediate plans," Appleby said. "Obviously, he'll have the winter off now."
Mischief Magic is based at the Moulton Paddocks facility in Newmarket.
* Tyler's Tribe, who was eased to the wire and vanned off after a severe bleeding episode in the Juvenile Turf Sprint, was reported to be “very good today” Saturday morning by trainer Tim Martin. Martin said the gelding would be given ample time off to recover.
Tyler’s Tribe, who had won all five of his previous starts, all at Prairie Meadows in Iowa, was running without Lasix and on turf for the first time in his career.
