Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies: Two fillies stamp their ticket

My Conquestadory and Artemis Agrotera spiced up the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies division last weekend with Win and You’re In victories in the respective Grade 1, $400,000 Alcibiades at Keeneland and the Grade 1, $500,000 Frizette at Belmont Park.
My Conquestadory, who has been a leading candidate for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, opened up her options with an athletic Alcibiades score on Friday. Artemis Agrotera, meanwhile, upset the pro-tem leader Sweet Reason in the Frizette on Saturday.
Whether or not My Conquestadory joins the BC Juvenile Fillies fray will be determined after trainer Mark Casse assesses her training on dirt. She has never raced over such a surface. In the Alcibiades, run at 1 1/16 miles on Polytrack, My Conquestadory closed from next to last for a 1 3/4-length win. Her only other start came on turf, when she darted to a 3 1/4- length win over males in the Grade 2 Summer at a mile at Woodbine on Sept. 14.
My Conquestadory earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 84 for her win in the Summer, and a 74 for her victory in the Alcibiades. She is now based at Churchill Downs after shipping in from Woodbine, where she had trained over Polytrack.
Artemis Agrotera, meanwhile, is being pointed for the BC Juvenile Fillies, trainer Mike Hushion said following her 1 /4-length win in the Frizette. For her effort in the one-turn mile race she earned a career-high Beyer of 88. Artemis Agrotera is now undefeated in two starts, with her other victory coming in a maiden special weight for New York-breds on Aug. 16. Artemis Agrotera was an 11 3/4-length winner of the six-furlong race run at Saratoga.
Sweet Reason, winner of the Grade 1 Spinaway at Saratoga, suffered her first loss in the Frizette. She broke from the rail and after veering toward the inside sharply at the start found herself a number of lengths behind the field. Through the stretch, Sweet Reason put in a determined bid but could not catch the front-running Artemis Agrotera.
In other divisional developments, the Casse-trained Madly Truly won the Grade 3 Mazarine at 1 1/16 miles on Polytrack at Woodbine on Saturday. She earned a career-high Beyer Figure of 76.
The Grade 1, $2 million BC Juvenile Fillies is a 1 1/16-mile race at Santa Anita on Nov. 2.
