Breeders' Cup: To Honor and Serve trains with blinkers

Barbara D. Livingston To Honor and Serve wore a one-cup blinker over his right eye on Tuesday at Churchill Downs.
To Honor and Serve does not race or even work in blinkers. But the Pennsylvania Derby winner showed up in blinkers when he returned to the track for the first time Tuesday morning since working five furlongs in 1:02 on Sunday.
“He does not normally train with blinkers, but he’s been a bit of a handful lately to gallop in the morning, so Bill decided to send him out with a one-cup blinker [on the right side] for a couple of days to see how he goes with it,” said Ken McCarthy, Bill Mott’s assistant. “And from what I could see, he went very well with them this morning.”
