Breeders' Cup Distaff: Idiomatic to work Saturday
?q=100)
Idiomatic, early favorite for the Breeders’ Cup Distaff, is scheduled to breeze Saturday at Churchill Downs before shipping to California early next week, trained Brad Cox confirmed Thursday. Cox also pre-entered Grade 1 winners A Mo Reay and Wet Paint in the Distaff.
The work by Idiomatic will be her first recorded drill since she won the Grade 1 Spinster on Oct. 8 at Keeneland, following her win in the Grade 1 Personal Ensign at Saratoga. Wet Paint is on a once-a-week work pattern following her Aug. 19 runner-up finish in the Grade 1 Alabama. If she follows the same pattern, Wet Paint would work this weekend. A Mo Reay, runner-up Oct. 8 in the Grade 2 Beldame, last worked Oct. 21 and presumably would work again this weekend.
Cox will send an army of contenders to the Breeders’ Cup. In addition to the three Distaff pre-entrants, others include Timberlake (Juvenile); Zozos (Dirt Mile); Saudi Crown (Classic); and Caravel (Turf Sprint).
