Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile: Easter Gift to scratch

ARCADIA, Calif. – Relegated to the also-eligible list for Friday's Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile, Easter Gift did not ship to California from New York on Tuesday. Trainer Chad Brown said Easter Gift likely will be pointed to the Clark Handicap on Nov. 29 at Churchill Downs.
“I’d like to run that horse two turns,” Brown said.
Brown said he was disappointed that Easter Gift was not selected by the Breeders’ Cup selection panel, comprised of racing secretaries and Breeders’ Cup officials. Easter Gift won three races this year, including the Mountainview Handicap at Penn National. Brown felt that the horse accomplished more than Holy Lute, who won two races, including the El Cajon Stakes.
“I thought the committee made a mistake not letting him in,” Brown said.
