Prior to heading to Del Mar, Grade 1 winner and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies candidate Iron Orchard has sold for $2.5 million in a Fasig-Tipton digital flash sale. Following six days of bidding that closed Thursday night, Iron Orchard was purchased by KatieRich Farms as a racing prospect and presumably a future addition to its commercial broodmare band. The filly was consigned by her trainer, Danny Gargan, as agent, and she will remain with that trainer. New York-bred Iron Orchard, by Authentic, was undefeated in three starts for CSLR Racing Partners and R. A. Hill Stable. After winning her maiden race and the Seeking the Ante Stakes against statebreds, she scored a nose victory in the Grade 1 Frizette on Oct. 4 at Aqueduct. Graded stakes winner Haulin Ice was the other horse offered in the flash sale, but failed to meet her reserve, with a high bid of $875,000. She is still available for purchase post-sale from consignor Taylor Made Sales. “It has been a thrill to offer an undefeated Grade 1-winning and Breeders’ Cup-bound filly in Iron Orchard for her connections,” Leif Aaron, Fasig-Tipton’s director of digital sales, said in a release. “We wish KatieRich the best of luck with her and will be rooting her on in the Breeders’ Cup and beyond. “While we were disappointed to have not sold Haulin Ice, she is a quality filly and still available for purchase post-sale through our platform.” :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
