Miss Jum Jabber, the lone supplemental entry in the $664,500 Breeders Crown 3-year-old filly pace final, overcame post eight for driver Andy McCarthy and collared pace-setter Hope Hill in the stretch to score in 1:49 4/5 on Saturday night at Eldorado Scioto Downs. A daughter of Bettor's Wish trained and owned by Brett Pelling, Miss Jum Jabber was a winner for the 14th time this year in turning back a game Whoomp, with early leader Darlin's Angel third.
A Clean Deal and Darlin's Angel were quickest to leave at the outset, with McCarthy leaving with Miss Jum Jabber but keeping her reserved through the first turn. With Darlin's Angel and Lauren Tritton getting command, McCarthy looked to move Miss Jum Jabber to the front but was forced to check briefly when rival Hope Hill and Dexter Dunn came off the pylons to sprint for the front. McCarthy was able to wrestle Miss Jum Jabber into a spot behind Whoomp.
Darlin's Angel had the front in a 26 1/5 opening quarter but yielded to Hope Hill three-eighths into the mile. John De Long moved Whoomp at that point to go first-over and McCarthy followed with Miss Jum Jabber, as even-money favorite Sangria Summer tagged along third-over. The half was rated in 55 1/5 with Hope Hill in front, but Whoomp kept up her attack on the backstretch, and the two reached three quarters in 1:22 3/5 while side-by-side.

McCarthy pushed Miss Jum Jabber on the final turn three-wide, and the filly hit high gear, circling the leaders by mid-stretch and holding all the closers at bay through the 27 1/5 final quarter. Whoomp would not be denied and fought gamely for the place spot, with Darlin's Angel rallying along the pylons for third. Hope Hill finished fourth and Sangria Summer was placed fifth following the disqualification of A Clean Deal.
Miss Jum Jabber was a $72,000 supplemental entry, with the gamble paying off royally as the victory pushed her one-year earnings above $1 million mark. Bred by Let It Ride Stables and Alagna Racing, Miss Jum Jabber returned $7.80 to win.
"She scored down great tonight she felt like she was back on her toes," said McCarthy of Miss Jum Jabber. "If she's got horses in front of them, she wants to go get them."
"She really deserved the opportunity to be on the big stage," said Pelling about his decision to supplement Miss Jum Jabber.
Miss Jum Jabber is currently entered in the mixed sale in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and is scheduled to go through the ring on Thursday, November 5 as HIP 1375.
