Loua Dipa tied the track and Canadian record with a powerful 1:49 1/5 win for Ronnie Wrenn Jr. and Ron Burke in the Grade 1 $700,000 Breeders Crown final for 2-year-old pacing fillies on Friday night at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Hunting Memories (Louis Roy) cut the quarter in 26 1/5 and then yielded to sit behind Daya (Jody Jamieson) past that marker. Loua Dipa and Wrenn Jr. landed in third from post three and then began their trek towards the front in the second quarter, taking control from Daya after the 54 3/5 half.

On the last turn Loua Dipa got separation on the others as she zipped to three-quarters in 1:21 4/5 and was on cruise control through a 27 2/5 final kicker, prevailing by 3 1/2 lengths. Burke trainees Shes A Bulldog (Bob McClure) and Seaside Shuffle (Yannick Gingras) completed the trifecta, with Daya fourth and Sangria Summer (Trevor Henry) fifth.

"She was awesome. I'm just really happy to sit behind her and she's really special," Wrenn Jr. said after the race.

A daughter of Sweet Lou, Loua Dipa is a homebred for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC. and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. She has a summary of 9-1-1 from 12 starts, has put away C$1,019,728 and paid $2.30 to win.

"She was just in the middle of the pack until the first qualifier. She showed a hint of it and then every start after that she just kept getting better and better," Burke said. "Then it was when she came up here that we were like 'wow, she's special.' Since then she's just been on a tear.

"Looksgoodinloulou (Loua Dipa's full sister) reminds more of the granddam. This filly reminds me more of the dam. They're much more similar - the funny steering and they're just the nicest horses to be around. They're truly just the quietest, nicest and kindest fillies. That was one of my favorite horses - she was a world champion at 2, so she's a world champion and now has had two world champions."

When asked if he had any interest about racing Loua Dipa against colts next year Burke responded, "Pretty much if Ian Moore tells me where he's not going, maybe I'll race her against the other boys. I'm not looking to race her against Beau Jangles."
