Bredar gets Louisiana Downs job

Mary Rampellini|Mar 29, 2007

Louisiana Downs has named Doug Bredar as its racing secretary, the track announced on Thursday. He replaces Tony Patterson, who resigned from the position earlier this month to pursue opportunities outside of the racing industry.

Bredar is a former director of racing and racing secretary for Churchill Downs. He worked there and in the same capacity at Ellis Park for five years. Bredar has also worked as racing secretary at Turf Paradise, Prairie Meadows and The Woodlands, and held other racing official positions at Hollywood Park, Gulfstream Park and Keeneland.

His first meet for Louisiana Downs will be the Thoroughbred meet, which opens on May 4. Louisiana Downs is owned by Harrah's Entertainment.
