Breather for There Goes Rocket

There Goes Rocket, who later this month will be named Texas's champion 2-year-old colt for 2003, is getting some time off following his win last Saturday night in the $125,000 colts and geldings division of the Texas Stallion Stakes at Sam Houston.

"We're going to give him a little bit of a break right now," said Sam David Jr., who trains There Goes Rocket for Frank Fletcher. "He'll get a little sunshine for a few weeks. He'll get out and get a chance to be a horse."

David said plans for There Goes Rocket have not been discussed in detail yet, but a goal is the $200,000 Rebel at Oaklawn on March 20.

There Goes Rocket is also eligible for the $75,000 colts and geldings division of the Texas Stallion at Sam Houston on Feb. 14. In 2003, he won 4 of 6 starts and $199,500.
