Bravo to stick around for rest of meet

After riding at Fair Grounds and Oaklawn Park for most of the past three months, Joe Bravo has returned to his East Coast roots. The 47-year-old jockey guided Synchrony to victory Saturday in the Grade 3 Fair Grounds Handicap, then hopped a plane to ride five races Sunday at Gulfstream and six more Monday.
Bravo’s agent, Jimmy Riccio, said the plan is to ride the duration of the championship meet, through March 31, then probably move to New York instead of Keeneland, where Bravo has ridden with some regularity in recent years. Then it’ll be back in May to Monmouth Park, where Bravo is the all-time leading rider and where the 2019 meet is being enhanced with $10 million in purse subsidies from the state of New Jersey.
Into Monday, Bravo had ridden 5,335 winners, 24th all-time and ninth among active jockeys in North America.
