Brant, winner of the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity in 2025, has been retired to stud at Hill ‘n’ Dale Farm at Xalapa in Paris, Ky., according to an announcement on Saturday.
A fee has yet to be determined.
Brant, by Gun Runner, was purchased for $3 million at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales of 2-year-olds in-training in March 2025, a record price at the prestigious auction.
Trained by Bob Baffert for Amr Zedan, Brant won his first two starts at the 2025 Del Mar summer meeting – a maiden race by 5 1/2 lengths at 5 1/2 furlongs in July, and a one-length win at 1-10 in the $300,500 Del Mar Futurity at seven furlongs in September.
Brant finished third in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at 1 1/16 miles at Del Mar last October. He set the pace before losing his advantage in early stretch, eventually finishing 1 1/2 lengths behind Ted Noffey, the champion 2-year-old male of 2025. Brant was a finalist for the championship.
Earlier this year, Brant finished fifth of seven in the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes at 1 1/16 miles at Santa Anita in March in his first start of 2026, and fourth of six in the Grade 3 Maxfield Stakes at seven furlongs at Churchill Downs on June 28 in his final start.
Brant, who earned $424,200, is out of Tynan, by Liam’s Map, a half-sister to the graded stakes winners Boppy O. and Pappacap.
