Brad Free's Los Alamitos Horses to Watch for week of Sept. 13-15, 2024
JERRY’S SPIRIT
Trainer: Dean Pederson
Last race: Sept. 13, 3rd
Finish: 1st by 7
Beyer: 87
Maiden-40 making first start since changing trainers, this Ghostzapper gelding crushed. Pressed pace, ran away late in fast final time. Likely favorite in starter allowance this fall at Santa Anita.
C’MON MAN
Trainer: Steve Knapp
Last race: Sept. 14, 4th
Finish: 1st by 2 1/2
Beyer: 74
Sprinter won easily for $6,250 tag, but claim was voided after post-race examination. C’Mon Man has won this year for $10,000 and $16,000, should be tough in Santa Anita autumn claiming sprint.

FIBONACCI’S RIDE
Trainer: Cesar DeAlba
Last race: Sept. 15, 3rd
Finish: 1st by 6
Beyer: 71
This fast-working debut 2-year-old ran them off their feet. Popped gate, sped comfortably to lead, won “ridden out.” Clubhouse Ride filly bred to run long; this was a solid career debut.
LESS IS MORE
Trainer: Doug O’Neill
Last race: Sept. 15, 3rd
Finish: 3rd by 8 1/4
Beyer: 48
Second-start maiden 2-year-old filly lost chance when she hit the gate and was bumped by a rival at the start. Away poorly, chased thereafter, toss race. Cal-bred by Nyquist is worth another chance.
