Pacific Classic Day at Del Mar includes big fields, competitive races, and a “play of the day” pick three in the middle of the card. The wager (races 4-6) will include four runners in the opening leg, one in the middle, and five in the finale. Bet size: $1. Ticket cost: $20.

Race 4

A deep field of second-level allowance runners goes a mile on turf, including dropper Perfectly Majestic, the 20-1 outsider Accountability, top choice Arms Runner, and 20-1 front-runner Tule Fog. We’ll use all four.

Race 5

The debut by Palermo Style (8) was super. He broke slowly, put in an extended rally, and finished second. That race was at Golden Gate Fields; his Del Mar work for top trainer Bill Morey was a sharp (after he stumbled) half-mile gate work six days ago. Palermo Style is listed as the 7-2 second choice in the program. For us, he is a pick-three single.

The Grade 2 Del Mar Handicap came up deep. We’ll use five runners. They are pace presser Kenjisstorm, tepid favorite Itsinthepost, Multiplier, 8-1 top choice Cashman, and Fashion Business.
