Bowman's Band dies at 10

Grade 2 winner and Lane's End stallion Bowman's Band was euthanized last Saturday due to complications following colic surgery, according to a release issued Monday by Lane's End in Versailles, Ky.

A 10-year-old Dixieland Band stallion. Bowman's Band died at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Ky.

Bowman's Band was the leading earner for his sire. A winner in 7 of 34 starts, he earned $1,315,774 and won four stakes, most notably the Grade 2 Meadowlands Breeders' Cup in 2003.

Bowman's Band was a son of the Pleasant Colony stakes winner Hometown Queen. He began his stud career at Maryland Stallion Station but relocated to Lane's End for the 2007 season.
