Boundtobebad begins season in Its Binn Too Long Stakes

Boundtobebad wins the 2019 West Virginia Futurity at Charles Town
Coady Photography Boundtobebad defeated males by 11 lengths last November in the West Virginia Futurity (above).

Boundtobebad will be chasing after the third stakes win of her young career Friday night when she launches her 3-year-old season in the $50,000 Its Binn Too Long at Charles Town.

The 4 1/2-furlong stakes is for 3-year-old fillies bred in West Virginia. It highlights a nine-race program that includes a new late pick five featuring a reduced takeout of 12 percent. The 50-cent minimum bet will be held on the last five races.

Boundtobebad is part of a field of nine that includes fellow stakes winners Angle of Attack and Twirling Owen.

KEY CONTENDERS

Boundtobebad, by Windsor Castle

Last 3 Beyers: 58-71-65

◗ She’s won 3 of 4 career starts, including a West Virginia Breeders’ Classic race last October and the West Virginia Futurity over male rivals last November. Both races were at Charles Town.

◗ Boundtobebad is making her first start since Nov. 30, when she finished second by a head in the Eleanor Casey Memorial at Charles Town. The seven-furlong race was run around two turns. She will be cutting back to one turn for her comeback race.

◗ Boundtobebad has raced at 4 1/2 furlongs once before, capturing a maiden special weight in her career debut in June. She rallied from off the pace and could get a similar trip Friday behind such quick rivals as Gandi’s Castle, Twirling Owen, Distorted Splendor, and Undeniable Touch.

◗ Christian Hiraldo has the mount from post 7 for trainer James Casey.

◗ Boundtobebad races for her breeder, Taylor Mountain Farm, which is operated by Casey. She is a full sister to three-time stakes winner Bound to Windsor.

Angle of Attack, by Maclean’s Music

Last 3 Beyers: 59-59-48

◗ She won the Eleanor Casey Memorial last out, battling on the front end and edging 1-5 favorite Boundtobebad.

◗ Angle of Attack is shortening up in distance and could get an ideal setup behind the ample speed in the Its Binn Too Long.

◗ Arnaldo Bocachica has the mount from post 9 for trainer Jeff Runco.

◗ Angle of Attack races for her breeder, Coleswood Farm, which is operated by Runco.

Manarola, by Flat Out

Last 3 Beyers: 55-53-48

◗ She has recency on both Boundtobebad and Angle of Attack as her last start came in February. Manarola won a conditioned allowance that day, her second straight victory in a budding streak that started in January.

◗ Manarola is a specialist at Friday’s distance, having registered three wins at the trip.

◗ She is moving back into stakes company for the first time since running third to Boundtobebad in a division of the West Virginia Breeders’ Classic last October.

◗ Carlos Delgado has the mount on Manarola, a half-sister to the talented Amelia Bedelia, for owner and trainer Javier Contreras.
