Both November sales to begin a day later
Kentucky's two major mixed auctions in November will each be held one day later than originally scheduled in order to ease the turnaround for horses and people following the Breeders' Cup in California the prior weekend.
The single-session Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall selected mixed sale will now be held the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 5. It had originally been scheduled for that Monday night. The following day, on Wednesday, Nov. 6, Keeneland will kick off its November breeding stock sale, which was originally scheduled to begin that Tuesday. That sale runs through Nov. 17.

The two Kentucky-based auction companies, which made their announcements in quick succession on Wednesday evening, cited allowing more time for industry participants attending the Breeders' Cup, to be held Nov. 1 and 2 at Santa Anita, to travel from California to Kentucky and to inspect horses.
“In keeping with Keeneland’s mission, we continually strive to do things that better the entire industry,” Keeneland president and CEO Bill Thomason said in a release. “We listen to our customers and we respond.”
The additional time between the Breeders' Cup and the sales also allows additional time for the shipping of racemares who will compete in the races and then travel to Kentucky to be sold as racing or broodmare prospects, and additional time for prospective buyers to view those horses on the sale grounds. Chief among that group will be multiple Grade 1 winner Midnight Bisou, the favorite for the Breeders' Cup Distaff. The filly is scheduled to be sold as a racing or broodmare prospect at Fasig-Tipton.
"We have advocated for this schedule change for many years, and we are pleased that other industry participants have recognized the need for this change," Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning said in a release.
