Corona Jumpim MRL, the 2018 South American Quarter Horse champion, finished a head in front of Powerful Favorite, the 4-5 favorite who won three derbies at Los Alamitos in 2019.
Bos Time Machine ($26.80) has won 7 of 17 starts and earned $128,001, all for owners Dee and Gary Hoovestal and trainer Paul Jones. A 4-year-old gelding by the First Down Dash stallion Bodacious Dash, Bos Time Machine won three consecutive races last summer, including two minor handicaps and a $25,000 claimer.
Sunday’s win was worth $67,011.
The Los Alamitos Winter Championship was Bos Time Machine’s first start in a major stakes since an eighth after a slow start in the Los Alamitos Championship last October.
Jones said in the winner’s circle that Bos Time Machine would be pointed to the major stakes for older horses at Los Alamitos in the second half of 2020.
