Book'em Danno scratched from Forego; will point to Vosburgh

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. − Book’em Danno, the champion sprinter of 2025, will scratch from Saturday’s Grade 1 Forego Stakes at Saratoga after getting cast in his stall, trainer Derek Ryan said Saturday morning. Book’em Danno was the even-money favorite in the Forego.

Book’em Danno, the New Jersey-bred gelding who has won 12 of 19 starts, won the Forego last year as part of his championship campaign.

“He was bouncing around here going crazy yesterday and he must have got cast in his stall last night,” Ryan said. “I don’t think it’s anything major. Likely if he was in tomorrow, he’d be 100 percent, but he’s not 100 percent today.”

Ryan said he would take Book’em Danno back to Monmouth Park Saturday night and get him ready for the Grade 3, $200,000 Vosburgh at Belmont Park on Sept. 26.

Book’em Danno is the second horse to scratch from the Forego as Banishing ran second in last night’s $1 million Charles Town Classic.

The Forego now has a six-horse field without a clear-cut favorite. Senior Officer, trained by Brad Cox, was the 7-2 morning-line second choice and may inherit the favorite’s role. He beat Tip Top Thomas a neck in an allowance race and Tip Top Thomas is back in this field.

Also left in the Forego are Hymn, T Kraft, Crazy Mason, and Bring the Smoke.
