Book’em Danno, beaten a head by Forever Young in the Group 3 Saudi Derby in February, will make his next start in the Grade 1, $500,000 Woody Stephens on June 8 at Saratoga, trainer Derek Ryan said Wednesday. Book’em Danno shows only two workouts since the Saudi Derby, though he was scheduled to breeze Thursday at Monmouth Park, Ryan said. “Everything is good,” Ryan said. “If he runs his race, he’ll be tough.” Book’em Danno, a New Jersey-bred son of Bucchero, has won four of six starts, including the off-the-turf Futurity last fall at Aqueduct and the Pasco Stakes at Tampa in January. In the Saudi Derby, on Feb. 24, he got beat in the last jump by Forever Young, who came back to win the U.A.E. Derby and finish third, beaten two noses, in the Kentucky Derby. “It just proves he was legit,” Ryan said Among others being pointed to the Woody Stephens include Barksdale, Domestic Product, Frost Free, Imagination, Nutella Fella, Prince of Monaco, and Vlahos. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
