Bonus Pack triumphs in Dominion Day

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Kentucky invader Bonus Pack overcame major traffic problems and an inquiry to post an authoritative win in the Grade 3, $219,800 Dominion Day Handicap Monday at Woodbine.

Bonus Pack stalked a moderate pace under Jesus Castanon in the 1 1/4-mile event. Lil Personalitee vied up front with Tails of the Crypt through splits of :24.18, :48.02 and 1:12.97, as Bonus Pack awaited room on the backstretch and through the far turn. Castanon angled Bonus Pack wide at the quarter pole, and they drew off in the stretch for a 5 3/4-length victory over Attest.

The rider of Win City, who finished third, lodged a claim of foul against Bonus Pack for alleged interference at the quarter pole, which was disallowed. Tails of the Crypt, Lil Personalitee, A Fleets Dancer and Catch the Ring completed the order of finish.

The final time was a quick 2:03.01.

Tom Proctor trains Bonus Pack, who returned $9.70 as the co-second choice in the field. A large 4-year-old by Colonial Affair, Bonus Pack earned $131,880 in his stakes debut for Glen Hill Farm.
