Bolt d’Oro drills for FrontRunner Stakes

Benoit & Associates Bolt d'Oro and jockey Corey Nakatani take the Del Mar Futurity by three-quarters of a length over Zatter in the Del Mar Futurity on Monday.
CYPRESS, Calif. – Bolt d’Oro, the undefeated winner of the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity on Sept. 4, had his first workout of September at Santa Anita on Sunday, going five furlongs in 1:00.40.
Bolt d’Oro is training toward the Grade 1 FrontRunner Stakes at 1 1/16 miles at Santa Anita on Sept. 30, owner and trainer Mick Ruis said.
“I wanted to make sure that he’s tuned up,” Ruis said of the workout. “We wanted to get some air. He galloped out seven-eighths.”
Bolt d’Oro beat maidens in his debut at 6 1/2 furlongs at Del Mar on Aug. 5.
In the Del Mar Futurity at seven furlongs, Bolt d’Oro overcame a slow start and closed from eighth in a field of nine to win by three-quarters of a length.
