Bold Roberta among five broodmares Ullman will sell at Barretts

Larry Ullman, who races and breeds as SLU Inc., is offering a reduction of his broodmare holdings at Monday’s Barretts January Mixed Sale in Pomona, Calif.

One of the five broodmares he has in the sale is Bold Roberta, a 13-year-old Bold Badgett mare who earned $449,704. Bold Roberta sells in foal to Fusaichi Pegasus, and is expected to attract significant attention from breeders.

The consignment also features Storm Kisu, a 14-year-old mare by Bold Badgett, who won five times and earned $268,366. Storm Kisu placed in two stakes – the California Cup Distaff at Oak Tree at Santa Anita and the Pio Pico Stakes at Fairplex Park. Storm Kisu sells in foal to Notional.

The SLU consignment is being handled by Harris Farms, agent. The group includes Jade Jaeger, an unraced 7-year-old who sells in foal too Sprint at Last; Mango Minou, an 8-year-old who is in foal to Swiss Yodeler; and Chabuka, a stakes winner on the Northern California fair circuit at 2, who is foal to Zanjero. Chabuka, a 12-year-old by River Flyer, earned $63,290.

The one-day Barretts sale begins at 10 a.m. and includes a further reduction of the holdings of River Edge Farm in Buellton, Calif., and the first phase of the reduction of the Walter Family Trust.
