Bohannan a winner first race back

Tom Bohannan, who quit training some five years after winning his second straight Preakness in 1993, returned to racing in a big way Wednesday when Sea of Trees, his first starter back, won the fourth race at Churchill Downs.

Bohannan, 50, who won the 1992 and 1993 runnings of the Preakness with Pine Bluff and Prairie Bayou, quit training in 1998 to undertake various outside endeavors, including owning a golf course construction business. Earlier this year, he rejoined forces with his former longtime client John Ed Anthony, and soon will have 10 horses, mostly 2-year-olds, under his care at the Trackside training center in Louisville,-Ky.

Sea of Trees, ridden by Robby Albarado, rallied from last to win the maiden special weight race by 2 1/4 lengths. A 3-year-old colt, Sea of Trees returned $16.20 to win as fourth choice in a field of six.
