Bodua comes on again in Fanfreluche
ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Bodua edged by the 2-5 favorite, Jenny's So Great, in deep stretch to take the $150,800 Fanfreluche Stakes at Woodbine Sunday.
Bodua ($20.50) went right to the front and set honest fractions in the six-furlong dash for 2-year-old fillies. Jenny's So Great stalked on the outside and hooked up with Bodua midway on the turn, before assuming a slim lead in the stretch.
Bodua fought back in the final sixteenth to prevail by neck, in a time of 1:10.48. Attitude Included was another half-length back in third in the seven-horse field of Ontario-breds.
"She was pretty comfortable where she was," said Eurico Da Silva, who rode Bodua for trainer Mike Doyle. "She fought hard, dug in, and ran a brilliant race. I was pretty happy when she put her head in front."
Bodua, now unbeaten in two starts, banked $90,000 in her first stakes score for Eaton Hall Farm.
[]Simmard ($6.90) won his stakes debut in Sunday's supporting feature, the $105,950 Chief Bearhart.
Robert Landry got a leg up from trainer Roger Attfield on Simmard, who covered a mile and a quarter over yielding turf in 2:04.65.
Cool Gator outran favored Sligovitz for second, in a field reduced to six with the scratch of Jambalaya.
