Bodexpress returns to Florida following his 102 Beyer in the Clark

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Bodexpress, the 11-1 winner of the Grade 1 Clark on Friday at Churchill, returned Sunday by plane to Gulfstream Park in Florida, where the Bodemeister colt will be prepared by trainer Gustavo Delgado for his next race, the Jan. 23 Pegasus World Cup.
Bodexpress earned a 102 Beyer Speed Figure for a second straight race when finishing a length ahead of Code of Honor, the 8-5 favorite in a full gate of 14.
The Clark anchored a busy closing weekend during which the second Stars of Tomorrow card of the meet was held Saturday. Keepmeinmind got a 79 Beyer with his first career victory in the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club, while Travel Column got an 84 Beyer when taking the Grade 2 Golden Rod.
◗ With all wagering pools subjected to a mandatory disbursement with the end of the Churchill meet Sunday, the Single 6 elicited $551,403 in closing-day handle, even with only $52,666 in the standing jackpot. Favorites dominated the six-race sequence, with each winning 20-cent ticket returning just $284.32.

◗ Hog Creek Hustle, who earned a 92 Beyer in winning a Friday allowance at Churchill, will be getting time at a South Carolina farm in the coming weeks before gearing up for a 5-year-old campaign, according to trainer Vickie Foley. Hog Creek Hustle, winner of the Grade 1 Woody Stephens in 2019, snapped a 12-race losing streak when finishing a half-length ahead of Royal Mesa in the one-mile race.
◗ Corey Lanerie, a 19-time leading rider at Churchill, has decided to ride at Gulfstream instead of going first to Turfway Park and then to Oaklawn Park, where he initially announced he intended to winter. Lanerie rode regularly at Fair Grounds in his native Louisiana for the last three years after wintering at Gulfstream for five straight years.
◗ Jermaine Bridgmohan got one under his belt by winning the seventh race on Major Attraction on closing day at Churchill. Bridgmohan, 32, intends to ride at Turfway throughout four months of winter action. The well-traveled jockey cracked the top 10 at the Indiana Grand meet that ended Nov. 19.
