Bodemeister sold, will stand in Turkey

Classic-placed Grade 1 winner and young classic sire Bodemeister has been sold to continue his stud career in Turkey.

Yaris Magazine of Turkey first reported, on Oct. 2, that Bodemeister was to be added to The Jockey Club of Turkey's roster, pending administrative approval. Bodemeister was not listed on WinStar Farm's stallion roster and stud fees for 2020, which were released on Friday.

Bodemeister, by Empire Maker, scored his biggest victory in the 2012 Arkansas Derby, then went on to finish second to I'll Have Another in both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. In his first crop, he sired 2017 Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming, now standing at WinStar. Bodemeister is also the sire of graded stakes winners American Anthem, Once On Whiskey, and Yuvetsi.
