Boardroom bosses rivals in Seaway Stakes

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - A fresh Boardroom dominated the opposition under Luis Contreras in Saturday’s Grade 3 Seaway at Woodbine, scoring by 4 1/2 lengths in the seven-furlong sprint for fillies and mares.
Boardroom raced four lengths off the pace on the outside along the backstretch, and then made a four-wide bid to the lead exiting the turn before drawing off to win in 1:22.02.
Our Secret Agent was along for second, and a troubled Amalfi Coast checked in third in the seven-horse field.
Boardroom ($4.40) captured her only other start at the meet June 19 in the Grade 3 Whimsical, winning it by a neck over Our Secret Agent.
“She’s just a really special filly,” said trainer Josie Carroll. “I think we knew from the moment that she came in that she had the capability. And she’s just blossomed as she’s gotten older.”

Boardroom, a 4-year-old daughter of Commissioner, collected $90,000 of the $155,400 purse for owner LNJ Foxwoods.
Corelli ($9.80) rallied strongly from the rear of the field under leading rider Kazushi Kimura to take Saturday’s co-feature, the Grade 3 Singspiel.
Based at Saratoga with trainer Jonathan Thomas, Corelli prevailed by 1 3/4 lengths over 11-1 shot English Conqueror in 2:01.70 for the 1 1/4 miles on the main turf. After hitting the front at the head of the stretch, Belichick faded to finish another length back in third, a neck in front of Theregoesjojo. Favored Eons beat one in the eight-horse field.
Corelli earned $90,000 of the $160,800 purse for Augustin Stable. The 6-year-old gelding is a son of Point of Entry, who stood his first season in Ontario this year at Adena Springs North.
