Bluefield darted home four lengths in front to win the $60,000 Musical Romance Handicap at Gulfstream Park on Sunday.
Poiema finished second, three lengths clear of third-place finisher R Adios Jersey.
The Musical Romance was a 6 1/2-furlong race for fillies and mares bred in Florida.
Bluefield ($6.20) settled just off the pace set by R Adios Jersey, who ran the opening quarter in 22.61 seconds while under pressure from Poiema. Poiema moved to the fore through a half-mile in 45.39 as Bluefield advanced and went on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:16.63.
Edgard Zayas was aboard the winner, his first victory since recently returning from a fracture to his jaw, according to the publicity department at Gulfstream.
"We started riding her a little more reserved and it worked out good," Zayas told publicity.
Saffie Joseph Jr. trains Bluefield for her co-breeder, Edward Seltzer. The winner is a daughter of Field Commission.
Bluefield has now won 7 of 17 starts for earnings of $233,200.
* The Rainbow 6 pool will have a minimum guaranteed pool of $200,000 on Friday, according to a press release from Gulfstream. The 20-cent bet will run on races 3-8.
