OCEANPORT, N.J. - Another stakes, another victory for trainer Larry Jones at Monmouth.

Jones improved to 4 for 7 in stakes here this meet as Blue Violet took the $76,000 Lady’s Secret for fillies and mares.

Blue Violet, a 4-year-old, rallied on the rail at 6-1 to beat 51-1 outsider Oasis At Midnight by a half-length.

It was a festival for longshots as My Miss Sophia, the 3-10 favorite, faded to fifth after stalking the pace set by Rebecca’s Surprise, who held on for third.

My Miss Sophia, the lone 3-year-old in the six-horse field, had faced Grade 1 runners in her previous two races, including a second-place finish behind Untapable in Kentucky Oaks.

A homebred by Susan Knoll, Blue Violet followed a 10-length allowance win at Delaware Park with her first stakes victory on Monday. She is 4 for 16 after running the 1 1/16 miles in 1:44.54 on the fast track with Jose Caraballo aboard.

Blue Violet paid $14.60 to win, topping a $385.60 exacta with Oasis At Midnight.
