Blackjackcat transfers to Hollendorfer barn

ARCADIA, Calif. – Blackjackcat, a multiple stakes winner who finished third in the Breeders’ Cup Mile at Del Mar in 2017, was recently transferred from trainer Mark Glatt to Jerry Hollendorfer.
A 6-year-old gelding by Tale of the Cat owned by Al and Sandee Kirkwood, Blackjackcat was sixth in the Cotton Fitzsimmons Stakes at Turf Paradise on Jan. 12 in his only stakes appearance since last spring.
Glatt said Friday the decision was made by the Kirkwoods and that the transfer occurred “about a week ago.”
Blackjackcat has won 6 of 20 starts and earned $590,365. In 2017, Blackjackcat won three consecutive stakes, including the Grade 2 Del Mar Mile. In the BC Mile that year, Blackjackcat rallied from 12th in a field of 14 to finish 1 1/4 lengths behind World Approval.
Blackjackcat worked a half-mile in 50.20 seconds on Tuesday, and is being considered for the Grade 3 Thunder Road Stakes at a mile on turf on Feb. 9, according to Dan Ward, Hollendorfer’s assistant.
