Blacker suspended, Mullins fined by Horseracing Integrity and Welfare Unit
California trainers Dan Blacker and Jeff Mullins were recently sanctioned by the Horseracing Integrity and Welfare Unit for violations that occurred with runners in their care at the Del Mar summer meeting.
Blacker was suspended seven days, beginning on Tuesday of this week, and fined $1,000 after Miss O’Brien tested positive for a controlled substance, the tranquilizer acepromazine, after a workout on Aug. 23.

Mullins was fined $3,000 for working Dandy Man Shines on Aug. 26, within seven days of an intra-articular injection, according to the HIWU website.
Dandy Man Shines later won a maiden race at Del Mar on Sept. 9.
