If My Miss Mo wants to snap her three-race losing streak, she will have to do so from the far outside post in the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Laurel Park on Friday. The Saffie Joseph Jr. trainee drew the 10 post and will have her work cut out for her in the 1 1/8-mile race. In the shadow of stronger runners at Gulfstream Park, My Miss Mo has risen through the ranks and will be a strong contender when shipping to Laurel. After a six-length runner-up finish in the Grade 2 Davona Dale in February, the filly flashed early speed in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Oaks before finishing second again, 2 3/4 lengths behind Prom Queen. Her natural speed is sure to come in handy on Friday, as jockey Tyler Gaffalione will likely have to gun it early to find an inside position during a short run to the first turn. She is arguably the class of the field, but others will have their chance to her inside. Braken Poppa, a Louisiana-bred filly trained by Steve Asmussen, drew post 5 for her first stakes in open company. She is undefeated in four starts this year, most recently dominating statebred rivals by 5 1/2 lengths in the $100,000 Crescent City Oaks at Fair Grounds. Jose Ortiz will again ride. :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! DRF Past Performances and Picks are available now.
