Black Caviar’s half-brother among offerings at Inglis Easter yearling sale

DRF Breeding Staff|Feb 11, 2013

A total of 569 yearlings, including a half-brother to unbeaten racemare Black Caviar, have been cataloged for the Inglis Australia Easter yearling sale.

The sale will be held from April 9-11 at Inglis' Newmarket Complex in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

Black Caviar’s half-brother is a Redoute's Choice colt out of the Desert Sun mare Helsinge, consigned by Three Bridges Thoroughbreds, agent, for Gilgai Farm. He is among 162 half- or full siblings to stakes winners who will be offered at the sale.

Black Caviar, the reigning Australian Horse of the Year and champion sprinter, is unbeaten in 22 starts, most recently winning the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes in June 2012 at Royal Ascot. Helsinge is also the dam of multiple Group 1 winner All Too Hard.

“Easter is an integral part of the famous Sydney Carnival and the team here at Inglis are certainly looking forward to April and the offering of another fantastic selection of yearlings, such as Black Caviar and All Too Hard’s half-brother,” Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster said.

“The Helsinge colt is no doubt the most anticipated colt in Australasia’s thoroughbred auction history, a sibling to a three-time world champion sprinter in Black Caviar and the equal world champion 3-year-old miler in All Too Hard, which topped the sale himself in 2011."

Coolmore's Fastnet Rock leads all stallions with 51 yearlings consigned to the sale.

North American-based shuttle stallions represented by yearlings in the catalog include Vinery Australia’s More Than Ready, who stands at WinStar Farm in the U.S.; Darley stallions Lonhro, Street Cry, Medaglia d'Oro, and Bernardini; and Three Chimney Farm's Big Brown.
