A Bit o'Irish Sass handy winner of New York Oaks

A Bit o’Irish Sass, under local native Reylu Gutierrez, prevailed in a scratch-depleted field of four to take the $75,000 New York Oaks on Monday at Finger Lakes.
A Bit o’Irish Sass ($7.20) shipped in from Saratoga to make her stakes debut for Rick Schosberg. In her previous outing, on July 2, the filly, who is from the first crop of Laoban, broke her maiden going 1 1/16 miles at Belmont.
A Bit o’Irish Sass dueled with A Life That’s Good through a moderate opening half-mile of 48.05. She put A Life That’s Good away nearing the quarter pole and drew off handily in the lane to win by 4 1/2 lengths while wrapped up, finishing the 1 1/16 miles in 1:47.77.
U Guys Are No Fun was second by a half-length over Destinationwnrscir, with A Life That’s Good fading to last. Laobanonaprayer, Laura’s Bellamy, and Scott Alaia were scratched.
