A Bit O'Gold heads Plate book
A Bit O'Gold, winner of the 1 1/8-mile Coronation Futurity at Woodbine last November, heads a list of 190 nominees for this year's 145th running of the Queen's Plate on June 27 and has been named the winter-book favorite for the race.
The Queen's Plate, a 1 1/4-mile race at Woodbine for Canadian-bred 3-year-olds, offers a purse of $1 million and is the first leg of the Canadian Triple Crown.
A Bit O'Gold, trained by Catherine Day Phillips, is the 6-1 favorite in this year's Queen's Plate winter book, a hypothetical exercise conducted by Woodbine's oddsmaker, Jennifer Morrison.
The filly Six Sexy Sisters, undefeated and the winner of the 1 1/16-mile Ontario Lassie in two starts at 2 for trainer Mike Keogh, is the second choice at 8-1.
Niigon, third in the 1 1/16-mile Grey at Woodbine last September, is the third choice at 10-1.
