Adam Coglianese Bishops Bay returned $3.16 in winning the Forty Niner at Aqueduct on Sunday.

Bishops Bay and a red-hot Flavien Prat won the Grade 3, $175,000 Forty Niner by three-quarters of a length over Nelson Avenue on Sunday at the Belmont meet at Aqueduct.

It was another 3 1/4 lengths back in third to Scotland.

Prat won five of the first six races on the card, with his wins coming in the second through sixth races. There were a total of four stakes on the final program of the meet. The fall season at Aqueduct begins Thursday.

Bishops Bay ($3.16) tracked Light the Way through fractions of 23.65 for the opening quarter, 46.27 for the half-mile, and 1:10.75 for six furlongs before moving to the lead into the stretch. Nelson Avenue advanced up the rail at the same time and the horses battled to the wire, with Bishops Bay covering the one-turn mile on a fast track in 1:35.31.

Prat was aboard for trainer Brad Cox.

“Good trip,” Prat told the press department of the New York Racing Association. “He broke well. He put me in a good spot. He is just a game horse, a very game horse.

“He fought back. He is a very competitive horse. Every time there is a horse that comes alongside of him, he’ll try to do his best. He will fight back.”

Bishops Bay earned a fees-paid berth into the Grade 2, $500,000 Cigar Mile on Dec. 6 at Aqueduct with his win in the Forty Niner.

Bishops Bay is a son of Uncle Mo who races for Spendthrift Farm, Steve Landers, Martin Schwartz, Michael Dubb and Ten Strike Stable. He has now won 8 of 12 starts for earnings of $702,800.

Turnback the Alarm

Standoutsensation became a stakes winner in the $150,000 Turnback the Alarm when she drove to a 1 1/4-length win over Ruth. It was another 1 1/2 lengths back in third to Indy Label.

The Turnback the Alarm was a 1 1/8-mile race for fillies and mares.

Standoutsensation ($2.92) tracked Tipple through fractions of 24.57 seconds for the opening quarter, 49.07 for the half-mile and 1:13.62 for six furlongs. The winner went on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:52.32.

Kendrick Carmouche was aboard Standoutsensation for trainer Tom Amoss.

Standoutsensation is a daughter of Take Charge Indy owned by Richard Emmett and Joel Politi. She has now won 5 of 23 starts and earned $572,487.
