Bishop Court Hill all the way in Gravesend

Bishop Court Hill broke like a shot from his far outside post and never looked back thereafter Sunday in winning the Grade 3, $110,600 at Aqueduct in Ozone Park, N.Y.

Ridden by John Velazquez, Bishop Court Hill was posting his first victory since he also led throughout to win the Grade 1 Carter Handicap at Aqueduct in April. Carrying co-highweight of 117 pounds in a field of nine, he returned $9.20 to win after finishing a length ahead of Santana Springs, a 21-1 shot who rallied up the rail to take second by a head over Will He Shine, the 17-10 favorite.

Melnyk Racing Stables is the owner and Todd Pletcher is the trainer of Bishop Court Hill, a 6-year-old Holy Bull gelding who finished six furlongs in 1:09.23 over a fast inner track and earned $66,360 with his eighth victory from 29 overall starts. His career bankroll now stands at $582,290.

Will He Shine, ridden by Ramon Dominguez, chased closely for most of the way but could not menace down the stretch.
