Big upsets trigger pick five carryover of $163,847

The first opportunity to chase a big carryover at Turfway Park is already upon horseplayers, with a late pick five carryover of $163,847 into Friday night’s sequence.

Several big upsets on Thursday evening, the second night of the meet, resulted in no winning tickets and helped grow the pool, including Elle’s Dancer, who returned $46.90 for victory, and Dream On Stormy, who blew up the toteboard at $74.40.

First post Friday night is 5:55 p.m., with the late pick five starting in race 6 at 8:25 p.m. As of scratch time, all five races were set to go with full fields of 12 horses. The sequence includes the nominal co-featured races, as race 7 is a $101,000 allowance for horses who have never won once other-than or who have never won two races; and Race 9 is a $102,000 allowance/optional-claiming race for juveniles who have never won a race other-than or have never won twice.

If the carryover continues to build into Saturday’s card, large fields again loom, with overflow entrants of 13.2 per race prior to scratch time. Saturday’s card includes the first stakes race of the meet, the $125,000 Boone County.
