Big Trouble out for the year

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Big Trouble, winner of the Grade 3 Sanford at Saratoga on July 19, will be sidelined for at least the remainder of the year due to a torn suspensory ligament in his right foreleg, trainer Tony Dutrow said.
Dutrow said the injury was diagnosed following Big Trouble’s five-furlong workout at the Fair Hill training center in Maryland on Aug. 1. Big Trouble, unbeaten in two starts, was being pointed to the Grade 1 Hopeful at Saratoga on Sept. 1.
Dutrow said it is possible the injury could prove career-ending, but said that no decision would be made on the colt’s future until he’s been re-examined in about six months.
Big Trouble, a son of Tiz Wonderful, won his debut by 4 1/4 lengths at Belmont Park on June 1. Seven weeks later, he outfinished Mr. Z to win the $150,000 Sanford Stakes by a neck.
Big Trouble, campaigned by Tony and Kim Dutrow’s Team D Stable, was purchased for $230,000 at the Keeneland September yearling sale in 2013.
Dutrow still has the promising 2-year-old colt I Spent It, a debut winner at Belmont, who will run in Sunday’s Grade 2, $200,000 Saratoga Special.
